Ocean Network Express (ONE) Drives Dialogue on Growth and Innovation at the First ONE Guatemala Seminar

With the goal of identifying windows of opportunity for the local economy, the event brought together specialists and industry leaders to transform logistical challenges into concrete market solutions.

ONE Guatemala Seminar

GUATEMALA CITY – Ocean Network Express (ONE) held the First ONE Guatemala Seminar last Friday, January 16th. Focused on identifying and strengthening market opportunities, the event represented a significant step toward expanding the competitiveness of Guatemalan foreign trade in an increasingly dynamic global environment.

During the opening of the seminar, César Falcón, president of ONE Guatemala, highlighted the importance of strategic and collaborative action for the development of the country. “This is a forum for action. Our objective is to understand how, together, we can strengthen supply chains and transform logistics into a real competitive advantage for Guatemala,” he stated.

Among the highlights of the program, the AGEXPORT conference, led by its president, Francisco Ralda, presented a strategic vision on the role of export diversification and market intelligence in positioning Guatemala as a regional logistics hub. The analysis reinforced that the growth of exported volume is one of the main drivers of the country’s economic and social development.

In addition to the strategic debates, the seminar offered participants a differentiated technical experience. In the technology demonstration, Carla Sánchez, Regional Reefer Care Manager at Daikin Industries, conducted a guided tour of ONE's Reefer containers, where attendees were able to see the operation of Daikin's equipment up close. Likewise, during her presentation on Controlled Atmosphere, she explained how this technology contributes to preserving the integrity of sensitive cargo, such as fruits and vegetables.

From a systemic view of the sector, Dr. Fredy Palma, General Director of the Puerta del Istmo Free Zone, and Antonio Pineda, General Manager of Expogranel, shared perspectives on development zones and the challenges of the sugar industry. Complementing the debate, Luis Ángel Mera, Forward Booster, addressed aspects of the forwarding world and risk management in international trade.

The sectoral dialogue deepened in a panel moderated by César Falcón, with the participation of Roberto Papadopolo, President of the Board of Directors of the Shipping Association of Guatemala; José de la Peña, President of the Board of Directors of Port Santo Tomás de Castilla; and lawyer Günther Filitz. The discussion reinforced that logistical efficiency depends on coordination and alignment between all links in the chain.
